On 30th January 1649 Charles I was executed on a specially constructed scaffold outside the Banqueting House, Whitehall. He had spent his final few hours inside Whitehall Palace and walked across the Banqueting Hall and stepped out of a window on to the scaffold.
Newangle were commissioned to produce a video installation that would portray the last days of Charles I life. The installation consists of a bespoke table designed by Acme Design Studios and houses a tripytch of LED screens which are placed on the staircase of the Banqueting House close to the spot that it is believed Charles I made his fateful steps onto a platform to be executed. Filmed on location at the Banqueting House and Hampton Court Palace. |
