Jorge Orta is an artist who lived through a cruel military regime that terrorised Argentina between 1974-1983. Known as the 'Dirty War', suspected communists, artists, intellectuals and writers were placed in detention centres, tortured and raped under a state-sponsored process of eradication and disposal.
Protest had to be in silence and Jorge was moved to construct several actions and art works which could never be revealed at the time. Decades later, Jorge decides to take a journey from the spectacular deserts of Central America to the streets of Buenos Aires, recalling the corruption and performing these acts of protest and resistance.
Using non-actors and with minimal dialogue, this is one man's poetic journey through an epic landscape, which reflects on the loss of innocence, oppressive states and the cruelty of man. |
